Tell us about yourself...

Hey. My name is Antwan Jackson Jr. I'm 17 and a senior at Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater, Florida. I am a big sports guy and a fan of the Florida State Seminoles, Dallas Cowboys, and Los Angeles. I also like playing video games and hanging out with friends. I'm a 3.7 GPA student and a part of several honor societies at school.

Atlanta 2023

How did you find out about the eda?

I found out about the EDA program through Derek Del Rosal. I met him at the PYF showcase event in Atlanta, so our relationship is fairly new, but he reached out to me afterward and explained his role in the program and the opportunities that could come from it. Although our schools are local rivals, and  he's a Jesuit guy, and I'm Calvary Christian, I decided he was a pretty good guy, so here we are.

WHAT DOES THE EDA OPPORTUNITY MEAN TO YOU?

This scholarship means the world to me. Having the means to go out and attend the showcases and travel around to get seen is tough, so getting assistance with a program like EDA is very appreciated.

Share a little bit about your background...

I come from a single-parent household with just me and my dad. It's been just him and I, for the most part, from when I turned 6. He tries his best to give me every opportunity anybody else gets, but I know it takes a toll on him financially. He tries his best not to miss any of my events and games. I remember when I was about nine, he had a health issue with his heart and was in the hospital, and I had a tournament that weekend. He told me I'd be going with a teammate and he was sorry that he was going to miss it. I wasn't thinking about playing in a game, but him instead. I went out that Saturday and pitched a no-hitter and couldn't wait to tell him how great I played.

tell us one fun fact about yourself...

A fun fact about me is that I like to collect a baseball or some sort of memorabilia from all the stadiums I go to. It started with collectible cups at the stadiums, and then I upgraded to getting baseballs as I got older. I also have a ball that I caught from BP from Yasiel Puig and one from Evan Longoria years ago. I am also pretty fluent in sign language.

What career would you like to do?

If baseball isn't in the cards for me, I'd like to work in business finance.
