Hello, my name is Ja’Marques Benton. I am a class of 2025. I’m 18 years old and currently enrolled at Jefferson High School. I am 5’7 African American and weigh around 180.

How did you find out about the eda?
I first heard about this from my coaches, Spencer and Derek. I knew them for a very long time. I have known Coach Spencer since I was 12 and Coach Derek since my freshman year of high school.
WHAT DOES THE EDA OPPORTUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
It means a lot to me because I want to take the stress off my parents and I want to make the most of this opportunity it so my parents won’t have to worry so much.
Share a little bit about your background...
I grew up one of the best players on my team. I used to play football in middle school, but I love the game of baseball so much that I quit. I had to overcome realizing that I wasn’t the best out there and working hard to get what I needed.

I am very interactive with people, talkative, and have lots of energy.
What career would you like to do?
I want to be a professional baseball player when I grow up, but if that doesn’t work out, I want to have my own pharmacy.
