Tell us about yourself...

My name is Jesiah Woodside; some of my friends call me Jazz. I am 16 years old, live in Lake Mary, Florida, and am a Junior at Bishop Moore Catholic High School. I have one younger brother and a Black Lab named Jesse, who I love. I love to visit my family in Tampa, Clearwater, and The Bahamas. I have been playing baseball since I was four years old. I have met a lot of friends through baseball. One of my favorite times playing was when I went to Puerto Rico.

Atlanta 2023

How did you find out about the eda?

I attended the HBCU/ALL College Baseball showcase camp and heard about it there. Edward Chip Lawrence told me more about it, and then I met Coach Derek Del Rosal, who told me even more about the program.

WHAT DOES THE EDA OPPORTUNITY MEAN TO YOU?

The scholarship means I will get even more opportunities to see my dream of playing baseball in college come true. I am excited about the chances the scholarship will give me and am very grateful and thankful for the selection. There are many baseball players like me who deserve the same opportunity that I got with this scholarship. THANKS!

Share a little bit about your background...

I lived in Lake Mary all my life. Half of my family is in the USA, and the other half is in The Bahamas. I went to Seminole County public schools all the way to high school. I have always had to work extra hard in baseball to be the best I can be.

tell us one fun fact about yourself...

I like to fish, but I don't like the prep work that you need to do to go fishing.

What career would you like to do?

Other than a baseball player, I would like to be my own boss someday. I am going to own many businesses.
