Tell us about yourself...
Hi, my name is Mikey Watson. I’m 14 years old and a Freshman at Brother Rice High School. I’m a two-sport athlete (baseball and basketball) who also enjoys self-expression through fashion.

How did you find out about the eda?
I learned about the EDA after my travel ball coaches from White Sox Ace (Coach Ernest Horton and Coach Marcus Rodgers) recommended me for the combine. I’ve known Coach Ernest since I was about nine years old when my old travel team used to play against his travel team.
WHAT DOES THE EDA OPPORTUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
It’s great to be recognized for my baseball talent and skills. This scholarship is amazing because it helps to pay for costs associated with baseball. Both my parents work hard, and I have two little brothers. The costs for sports add up, and this will help a lot.
Share a little bit about your background...
When I was younger, I was a really shy and quiet kid. I was always good at baseball, but I was often overlooked because I was quiet. My coaches knew how valuable I was because I was a kid who was called on during tough games. But later, my louder and flashier teammates would get the spotlight. It took a long time for me to build my confidence and learn to speak up for myself.
tell us one fun fact about yourself...
My primary position is 3rd base because when I played Little League at seven, I was the only kid who could make the throw from 3rd to 1st…and do it accurately.
What career would you like to do?
A professional athlete. If that’s not possible, I want to work in the sports world, maybe as a sports commentator.
